a free online utility that scans your computer system and makes suggestions
on how to tune up your computer's performance. This utility protects your
privacy and does not make changes to your system that you do not authorize.
Pitstop works on machines running Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000, and XP

Ad-aware
scans your memory, Registry, and hard drives for software components from
Adware, Alexa (through 5.0), Aureate (1.0, 2.0, and 3.0), Comet Cursor
(through 3.0), Cydoor, Doubleclick, DSSAgent, EverAd, Flyswat, Gator,
Gratisware, HotBar, NewDotNet, OnFlow, TimeSink (through 5.0), Web3000, and
Webhancer. Ad-aware then displays a list of detected spyware modules,
Registry keys, files, and folders, and allows you to remove them from your
system selectively. This update supports removal of NewDotNet and HotBar
modules, allows you to backup and restore any changes, features a right-click
option to allow you to scan any folder on-the-fly, a new manual, and supports
the scanning of removable drives. Note: Some advertisement- supported
software may not work after the ad-monitoring components have been removed.
If you run Ad-aware under Windows NT/2000, you will need to log in with
administrator privileges. If you are upgrading from a version prior to 4.0,
remove the Ad-aware folder or uninstall it before installing this new
version.
