Personal Ancestral File 4.0 is a new Windows based version of one of the most widely-used genealogical management programs for home computers. The popular new software program can be downloaded free of charge via the Internet (see www.familysearch.org/OtherResources/paf4 ).  PAF 4.0 does not provide genealogical data. Instead, its program helps users organize their family history records. It can produce, in automated or manual form, records for personal family histories or charts and logs to help users in their search for missing ancestors. Recommended.

ntel Chips hit 500/600 Mhz

Intel's newest chips are gathering momentum: Monday, a slew of systems vendors announced new machines powered by the 600-MHz version (available later this month) of the Pentium III and a new 500-MHz Celeron (available now).

These fast processors will most benefit consumers in data visualization, streaming video, speech recognition, other processor-intensive applications (PC games and downloading multimedia and 3-D content from the Internet).

The 600-MHz Pentium III comes with 512 KB of performance-boosting Level 2 cache memory. Intel's fastest Pentium III until today's announcement ran at 550 MHz; its fastest Celeron, at 466 MHz.
