hristmas on the Internet
Where to find that jolly old elf on the 'net. If
you want to impress your children (and remember, you can only impress the very
young) check out a few of these internet 'Santa Sites'. These websites are
fairly graphic intensive, but the wait is worth it.
Mail Innovations
Express yourself with background basics. The new
Internet Explorer 4.0 includes an exciting email and newsgroup application
called Outlook Express. You can download it or read product information reviews
for yourself by following the links provided at the bottom of this page. Outlook
Express is a standalone program that can be used by itself, or called from your
favorite internet browser. One great new feature is the ability to incorporate
HTML backgrounds as templates behind your of your email messages. Of course, the
lucky recipient of your email must have a program to be able to accept
HTML formatted mail. Several sample backgrounds are loaded along with the
Outlook Express program. Other templates are available for download from the Microsoft
Greetings Workshop internet site. These templates are simply HTML files and
pictures stored on your hard drive in a subdirectory named:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery
Super human techies can access these template (or stationery) files directly
from this directory or create their own. We other (normal) humans can access and
use them the easy way via the Outlook Express program by selecting [Tools], then
[Stationery], then [Mail] (i.e. the Mail tab), and then in the middle section
labeled [When composing new messages use], by selecting the radio button called
[This stationery], and then clicking on [Select..]. This will (whew,
finally ..) bring up the Select Stationery box. From this box all available
templates can be previewed and simply selected for use. Go ahead .. Wow your
friends (.. you still have friends, right?)!
