LS-120 (120MB) Floppy Drive
A good idea that has become obsolete .. most users now opt for the CD-RW
drive or stick with the classic 100 MB ZIP disk drive.
The $-sorry, out of stock- CAN
(Current_Month) LS-120 internal
floppy drive was designed to replace or supplement your old 3.5-inch floppy
drive. While the only externally identifiable difference from that of its floppy
technology counterpart is the SuperDisk LS-120 triangle logo on the front, the
LS-120 drive achieves an amazing 120MB of direct access storage, when used with
the new LS-120 media diskette, at speeds up to 5 times faster than
conventional 3.5-inch floppy drives.
The LS-120 is downward compatible with current 3.5-inch floppy disk
technology. It can read and write to both 720KB and 1.44MB diskettes, providing
an upward migration path for millions of personal computer users and the
billions of diskettes they own. The LS-120 internal connection is the standard
IDE connector - the same connectors used by most Hard Disk and CD-ROM drives.
Most new motherboards sold today include 2 IDE connections, each supporting one
master and one slave device (i.e. up to four IDE devices). Internal power
connection is identical to the connection required by the current 3.5-inch
floppy drive.
LS-120
"SuperDisk" Media The LS-120 SuperDisks diskettes look, feel
and work just like conventional diskettes .. so you can get the storage capacity
you want without any additional training! And you save in floppy disk costs. A
single $-sorry, out of stock- CAN
LS-120 SuperDisk diskette holds as much data as 83 conventional 1.44MB
diskettes.
The LS-120 is compatible with Windows 95 using built in Win95 drivers as well
as with DOS/Windows 3.1 operating systems via device drivers similar to the ones
required for your CD-ROM loaded in startup files. Newer motherboard BIOS's even
support startup boot from the LS-120 drive.
